Every once in awhile I get into an art funk. I find myself lost- what do I want to create? Flowers, abstracts, drawing? Watercolors, acrylics? Journal pages, junk journal, canvas, wood panel? The options seem overwhelming, and the amount of ideas swirling around in my head actually keep me from making art.
I was in one of those places when I decided to construct a junk journal and just dive right in. This is the first page from that journal, and when I tell you I almost ripped it up, I am not lying. My husband had to walk me down from the edge, I was crying I hated it so much. But when I posted it to Instagram, thinking who cares if no one likes it, I was shocked when it was literally my most liked post from all of 2020. It just goes to show that we as artists are too hard on ourselves and our work.
I hope you enjoy the process, and check out my video on how to make your own junk journal!
